JENNINGS COUNTY — Jennings County residents who live south of U.S. 50 may be eligible to receive as much as $700 per acre to help create a healthy habitat for wildlife.
The Jennings County Soil And Water Conservation District is helping administer the Grasslands for Gamebirds Grant. The grant is designed to help individual property owners establish healthier habitats for wildlife.
“As it happens, habitat that is healthy for birds is also healthy for pollinators so this grant money will also help Jennings County’s efforts to help increase the pollinator population,” said JCSWCD Director Andy Ertel.
“You need very little space to create this kind of habitat and if you don’t know how, our office will assist you for free. Actually, if you receive the grant, it is possible to even make a little profit on the project,” he said.
