Charles Edward Farrell, 77, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 4:05 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Four Seasons Health Care Center.
Mr. Farrell was born February 24, 1942, in Ripley County, Indiana, the loving son of Charles David and Lois Tincher Farrell.
Mr. Farrell retired from Cummins Engine Company after 42 years of service.
He was a member of the Diesel Workers Union and the Columbus Moose Lodge No. 398.
A sports enthusiast, Mr. Farrell enjoyed watching NASCAR, football and basketball. He also enjoyed watching the stock market and mowing his yard.
Mr. Farrell is survived by his children, Tom (Christy) Farrell of Columbus and Mia (J.D.) Yarbrough of Murphy, Texas; grandsons, Tim, Ryan and Braeden Farrell of Columbus; sister, Maxine (Sid) Blair of Columbus; brother, Floyd (Ruby) Campbell of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews including Chuck (Lisa) Brewer of Columbus.
Mr. Farrell was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lois Farrell; sisters, Louise Schaffer and Gladys Holcomb; and a brother, Walter Campbell.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Tyler Tolbert will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday.
The committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Shelby Cemetery south of Versailles in Ripley County.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
