Two people were arrested after a CPD canine alerted to the odor of narcotics inside a vehicle early Monday morning.
At about 1:15 a.m. Monday, Columbus police stopped a speeding vehicle near 16th Street and Central Avenue, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
A CPD canine officer also responded to the traffic stop and later advised that his police service dog alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the stopped vehicle, Harris said. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located an eyeglass case in the car that contained methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, Harris said.
Two people inside the vehicle, who were identified as Jennifer L. Jeffries, 40, of 2331 Illinois Ave., and Makaelin J. Wilks, 26, of 812 Seventh St., were taken into custody. Both were transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where they were each arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, Harris said.
