Several Columbus East High School Art Department students received recognition in the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.
East’s art department submitted several pieces of student artwork ranging from photography to ceramics.
Receiving Gold Keys were Liza Doughty, Evan Federle and Haleigh Hashman.

Receiving Silver Keys in ceramics were Gretchen Comer and Sydney Ingram.
Eve Blair, Ally Cordes, Makenna Piatowski and Catherine Wolf received honorable mentions in ceramics.
Emma Nolting and Eden Thomas received honorable mentions in printmaking.
John Roberts, Sarah Montanez, Maura Montambo, Cristen Martinez, Wade Hall and Julia Foster received honorable mentions in photography.
Artwork that received a Gold Key Award will be on display at Clowes Memorial Hall at Butler University in the Krannert Room from March 16 to the 22.
All students who received awards will be honored at a ceremony held in Clowes Memorial Hall at Butler at 2 p.m. March 22.
The Scholastic Art and Writing Competition began in 1923 to give students across the United States a way to showcase their work. Students are judged on a statewide level, receiving a Gold Key, Silver Key or honorable mention. Students who receive a Gold Key have their wok judged on a national level where students may receive a Gold or Silver Key.
