BCSC issues statement regarding spring break travel and the coronavirus

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. has released the following statement regarding Spring Break travel by its students and their families:

The statement:

As a BCSC community, the ever-changing news of Coronavirus-COVID-19 has caused us to put renewed emphasis on the importance of personal choices and personal responsibility.  Besides our continued encouragement of the practice of typical disease prevention measures, we have increased concerns about travel during Spring Break and our return to school on Monday, March 23.  Based on this evolving situation, BCSC strongly urges our staff members and families to reconsider any unnecessary personal travel and to rigorously follow Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance.

BCSC is closely following the guidance from the CDC to help mitigate the risks to the BCSC community.  Since its guidance will continuously evolve with the global and domestic situation, we encourage checking the CDC site daily.  Based upon CURRENT circumstances, the following measures are in effect:

-Individuals traveling for any reason to and from a country with a COVID-19 designation of Level 3 must be required to self-quarantine for 14 days.

-Individuals traveling for any reason to and from a country with a COVID-19 designation of Level 2 or 1 may be required to self-quarantine for up to 14 days.

-Additionally, individuals traveling on ANY CRUISE SHIP worldwide may be required to self-quarantine for up to 14 days (as directed by local and state public health officials).

-Upon our return to school, any individual experiencing a fever greater than 100.4 should stay at home and contact their health provider.

-If choosing to travel outside of the United States (including any travel on cruise ships), staff members and students should complete the BCSC Traveler Information Form.  Providing this information will help BCSC locate those necessary if there are changes in travel restrictions or the status of the virus around the world.
