Jennings County High School graduate Chantz Morris is gaining experience as an intern with Rep. Jim Lucas, R-Seymour, and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2020 legislative session.
“I applied for this internship with the intention to better understand the inner workings of state government,” Morris said. “During the internship, I learned about the extensive processes that go into passing new laws. This was a very educational experience for me and I am certain that it will benefit my future endeavors.”
Morris, a North Vernon resident, is the son of Billy and Kristi Morris. He is a graduate of Indiana University-Purdue University of Columbus, majoring in business administration.
As a communications intern, Morris produces podcasts and works with the representatives in writing press releases and e-newsletters.
“The experiences and connections made by Chantz as he interns will help him pursue his career aspirations,” Lucas said. “As a communications intern, he is further developing skills in writing, graphic design, audio and video recording, and other areas. This will undoubtedly benefit him going forward.”
Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of the legislative session.
