ORIGINAL STORY

Columbus firefighters and police are at a car accident involving a northbound Louisville & Indiana train at 900 Lindsey St. which was reported at 12:38 p.m.

Dispatchers are reporting to first responders that the car’s driver is out of the vehicle, shaken up, but OK.

Columbus police said there are no injuries at the scene. The investigation has shown so far that the driver did not attempt to beat the train or disregard the lights, but was stopped at the intersection and his foot came off the brake, resulting in his passenger car rolling into the train.

The train has stopped and is currently blocking State Road 46 and State Road 11, and Indianapolis Road, just west of the roundabout near Mill Race Park, according to first responders.

They are asking drivers to use alternative routes until the accident is cleared.
