Access to county-owned buildings restricted

Effective today, access to all buildings owned by Bartholomew County government will be restricted.

Only county employees will be allowed in the county-owned buildings until further notice, according to Bartholomew County Commissioner Larry Kleinhenz.

While all the individual county offices will be open, the public is asked to do their business with those offices electronically through phone, text, voicemail or email, Kleinhenz said.

The only exception will be at the Bartholomew County Courthouse. Besides the judicial staff and judges, the courts are asking that only scheduled litigants and witnesses enter the courthouse, the commissioner said.

Although scheduled government meetings will continue, the commissioners are asking the public to avoid attending the meetings unless they have specific business.
