• Luciana’s Mexican Restaurant for sending food to the emergency department during these difficult times, there was even enough left over for the night shift, which we greatly appreciate, from Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Department.
• parents for stepping up to be their child’s best teacher.
• the small independent health care offices that aren’t under the Columbus Regional Hospital umbrella.
• the coronavirus for teaching us all to slow down and relearn what is really important to us.
• the kind, thoughtful neighbors on Redhawk Court and Peregrine Drive who have offered assistance to the elderly immunocompromised neighbors.
• Debbie, Leah, Claire, and Noah for picking up my groceries for me.
• Sarah Franklin for her letter to the editor for giving me the first real case scenario I’ve heard.
Onions to …
• all of our local factories not following suit by not stopping production as most are doing, sad the almighty dollar means more than people’s lives.
• the people who think its OK to go to beaches and possibly bring back virus symptoms.
• the company continuing to operate a corporate office of more than 100 people in close quarters.
• all the hoarder shoppers at Krogers — you are the ones creating the crisis.
• those who think the local gyms are staying open to make a profit when they charge a monthly membership fee if you visit or not, they are giving their employees a job and making sure they are paid.
• the local cemetery removing fresh flowers five days after the burial had just taken place.
• a nation that is trying to run and hide.
• those who complain and don’t realize that they are not obligated to go to the gyms that stayed open.
• people who need to learn we need to make eLearning a full time thing doing away with expensive buildings, sickness, school shootings and a lot of teachers who won’t need a raise.
• people who state a federal elected official called the virus a “hoax,” when in fact he stated, and I quote, “that the Democrats’ criticism of his administration’s response to it was a “hoax.”
• the large stores that allow everyone to shop during the early morning hours that are especially set aside for senior shopping.
• government officials for their lack of flexibility and support of telework for non-essential personal during this time and putting more people at risk than necessary.
• government officials for their lack of leadership in both not practicing social distancing themselves, and for also requiring employees who could telecommute to continue to put themselves and their families who are practicing quarantine at risk.
• nonessential businesses such as local gyms and fitness centers for not closing as they have been ordered to do in California.
• those that don’t question the fact that the numbers (compared to H1N1) just don’t add up for this type of lockdown and panic.
• school employees and corporate executives posting pictures of themselves and their families on spring break at clubs and beaches mocking the serious nature of the pandemic and then asking for prayers for their safe return.
• the tone-deaf few who relentlessly continue to campaign for a BCSC property tax increase of millions of dollars for a few in the middle of economic and financial calamity for the rest of us.
• the returning spring break people who recklessly and selfishly ignored the severity of this virus.
• the returning spring break people for placing this community in greater jeopardy because you chose to put your selfish wants above the wellbeing of others.
• the school corporation and board for not pulling the referendum to increase taxes when people are struggling to pay their rent and mortgages.
• the government official for not enforcing the CDC guidelines here in Columbus.
• the politicians for creating this horrible situation.
• people who always bad mouth our officials and how they run our country, especially this coronavirus crisis.
• recent onion writers who falsely claim that the president said the virus is a hoax and refused World Health Organization test kits.
