Rose E. Carnes, formerly of the Edinburgh, Indiana area passed away March 23, 2020 at her daughter’s home in West Layfette, Indiana. She was born April 1, 1946 in Guatemala. She was the daughter of Russell and Margaret (Anderson) Birchard.
She is survived by her daughter, Sevina (Dan) Sakel of West Layfette, Indiana, son, Chris (Jessica) Stevens of Columbus, Indiana, step-daughters, Bonnie Stone of Jasper, Indiana, Brenda (Lee) Huther of Newburgh, Indiana, and Becky (Lee) Blesch of Holland, Indiana, fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and sisters, Anita Reglin of Kansas City, Kansas and Lois (Sam) Dunn of Nampa, Idaho .
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Carl Birchard and sister, Mary Margaret Nash.
Rose was a member of the Edinburgh Church of the Nazarene. She was a nurse for over 43 years. She retired from Jasper Memorial Hospital where she was over the ER department. She was an interpreter for the Dubois County Court System.
She enjoyed traveling and antiquing.
A graveside service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 by Reverend Jim Hudson at New Discovery Cemetery, 4585 New Discovery Road, Rockville, Indiana 47872.
