Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wants to immediately open an investigation into President Trump and his handling of the Coronavirus pandemic. It is obvious her hatred of President Trump has clouded her judgement as the leader of the House of Representatives.
Although an investigation in how the federal government, and not just the president, will eventually be warranted now is not the time for a partisan investigation. Placing the Intelligent Committee Chairman Adam Schiff in charge shows how partisan this really is. He tried and failed to get the president removed and wants to try again.
I am against an investigation at this moment in time because the president, the entire federal government, state and local leaders and our brave health care professionals are actively involved in fighting this horrible virus which has killed over 10,000 Americans. The situation in this country is extremely dire and is only going to get worse before it gets better
Investigating the president and his administration now will only force these already overworked public servants to take their eye off the ball of this fight to answer subpoenas, provide documents and testify in front of Congress. I want the government concentrating their efforts on fighting this pandemic and not wasting time dealing with a dubious investigation.
When the danger has passed it will be the time for an investigation. It is obvious mistakes were made and we should find out what they were and implement measures to prevent them from happening in the future. But, Speaker Pelosi will only want to investigate the president in an attempt to have him impeached again or to ruin his reelection chances. However, she should also be investigating how this virus got here and why we were misled by the Communist Chinese government and the World Health Organization.
While she is at it she can explain to us why she fought the president’s order of Jan. 31 that restricted travel from China. The government in Beijing and the WHO stressed a travel ban was not necessary, but we know it has saved lives. She can also investigate why mayors and governors such as De Blasio and Cuomo were encouraging people to go out and see shows and eat in restaurants as late as early March. Why did former Vice President Biden initially call the travel ban xenophobic but is now saying it was the right thing to do?
She should also investigate why the federal stockpile of medical equipment was inadequate. There are reports that many of the supplies expired in 2010 and were literally dry rotting. President Obama was president in 2010. Was it his fault those items were not replaced? Of course not, the federal government consists of millions of employees. The president, whether it be Obama or Trump cannot be responsible for shortcomings of individual employees.
The speaker can have her investigation, but wait until the emergency has passed. Make sure it is truly bipartisan and investigate every aspect, not just President Trump.
