Harold Wishon Jr., 92, of Columbus, passed from this life at 7:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2020 at his home.
Mr. Wishon was born August 26, 1927, in Anderson, Indiana, the son of Harold Wishon Sr. and Myrtle Doll Wishon.
He married Adeline Stressel December 5, 1946. She preceded him in death December 14, 1992.
He later married Venita E. Loudermilk February 12, 1994. She preceded him in death March 30, 2019.
Survivors include his daughter, Melanie Wishon of Columbus; grandchildren, Chris (Ginetta) Peterson, Amy (John) Deagan, Beth (Scott) King and April (Jeremiah) King; 5 great-grandchildren; step-children, Larry (Karen) Loudermilk of Morton, IL, Wayne (Linda) Loudermilk of North Port, FL, Brenda (Mark) Wagner of Columbus and Alan (Christine) Loudermilk of Austin, TX;
12 step-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; daughter, Marta Wilson; and sisters, Norma Carney and Vera Robinson.
Mr. Wishon retired in 1988 after 35 years of service from the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation as a high school teacher.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
He enjoyed membership at the Westside Community Church, VFW, American Legion, Columbus Moose Lodge #398, Columbus Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Murat Shriners, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, BARTA and Prairie Promenaders-ballroom dancing.
He was a former board member of Bar-Cons Credit Union and formerly taught drafting at IUPUC, Cummins Engine Company, Ferris State College and Northwest High School in Indianapolis.
Private services will be held at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Dennis W. Aud officiating.
Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
