COLUMBUS
Lucinda “Kit” Huffman, passed away May 7, 2020 at the Four Seasons Health Care Center.
She was born June 29, 1920 in Friendship, Indiana, to Roy and Edna Smith Ketenbrink.
Upon graduation from Greensburg High School in 1938, she moved to Columbus, Indiana to take a job at Singer’s selling sewing machines and teaching clients to sew.
August 18, 1940, she married Frank Huffman and they took up residence on a farm southeast of Columbus. She helped Frank on the farm and continued working in town. As an employee of Joe Picconi PA, she perfected her accounting skills. When Frank and Kit became owners of Trico Farm Supply Inc, she took care of the books.
Kit was a member of Burnsville Christian Church and later joined St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Columbus. She was also a member of Club 24 Homemakers Club and a 50 year member of Eastern Star.
She loved to dance, swim, travel, play cards and winter in Weslaco, Texas. Her dad was a race horse trainer when she was growing up, so she loved horses and going to horse races. She was a very good cook, seamstress and caregiver to all her family.
On December 11, 1999, Kit lost her favorite dance partner and husband of 59 years when he passed away. Her parents also preceded her in death.
Her survivors include her daughters, L. Diane (Ted) Kiel of Hailey, Idaho and Susan (Dan) Arnholt of Columbus, Indiana; a sister, Sarah Ann Williams of Greenwood, Indiana; grandsons, Cory Arnholt, Clint (Katie) Arnholt and Eric (Shanti LaRue) Kiel; plus seven great-grandchildren.
Private visitation will be held at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home. A private service will be held at the Garland Brook Mausoleum; the Reverend Mark Teike will officiate.
