First Financial donates $51,000 to Bartholomew County organizations for COVID-19 relief

The First Financial Foundation has announced donations totaling $51,000 to organizations in Bartholomew County as part of its $1 million pledge to fund COVID-19 relief efforts for communities that have been impacted economically by the novel coronavirus.

“We are eager to support the outstanding community organizations and nonprofits in our area who are demonstrating tremendous resilience by delivering critical assistance during such a difficult time,” said Archie Brown, president and CEO.

Donation recipients include the United Way of Bartholomew County’s COVID-19 Relief Fund and the Salvation Army of Columbus.

“This is an incredible gift and we are thankful for the partnership with First Financial,” said Mark Stewart, president of the United Way of Bartholomew County. “We have been incredibly busy and have our finger on the pulse of community needs. We have already mobilized some of this funding in order to get it into the hands of those who need it right away.”

In addition to funding from the Foundation, First Financial has also announced its Hardship Relief Program, in which it is helping consumers, small businesses and commercial clients who are being affected by the pandemic. Consumers can request to defer payments on loans and credit cards.

Business and commercial clients can also request to make interest-only payments or defer payments. More information about how to access these relief options is available online at bankatfirst.com.
