A local woman was arrested on several charges Sunday evening after she was accused of crashing her vehicle while intoxicated and later resisting arrest.
Columbus police were sent to the 2200 block of Lincoln Park Drive at 9 p.m. Sunday about a reckless driver, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The officers located a damaged passenger car and a woman, later identified as Jessica C. Jeffers, 29, of 2915 Hawcreek Blvd., who was involved in an argument with another person.
While speaking with Jeffers, the officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and noted that her balance was poor and her speech was slurred, Harris said.
Jeffers refused to cooperate with officers and resisted being restrained, Harris said.
Jeffers was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital where she continued to be belligerent and bit a hospital security officer and kicked a second security officer, Harris said.
A warrant for a blood draw was obtained for Jeffers and upon being discharged from the hospital she was remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of battery on a public safety official, criminal mischief/vandalism, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.
She was released with her bond set at $22,000, jail officials said.
