• Brace Rutledge for the great job officiating at our father, grandfather and great grandfather’s funeral.

• the members of 25th Street Church of Christ for the delicious meal and the Clifford Fire Department for the use of their building.

• Flowers By Lois, they do a great job.

• Lee Hamilton for his thoughtful, hopeful words about the nation’s future.

• the field of economics called the “dismal science” and Mike Hick’s latest article showed why, but he knows his stuff so ignoring the facts will not make them go away — good job.

• Brad, Julie and Ali for towing our boat back to our dock! From Pat & Ali.

• the lady in the black vehicle who paid for my order at Burger King Saturday afternoon, very appreciated.

• the real nice young lady who gave me a pair of gloves, from Linda. I sure do appreciate it.

• School Resource Officer Eric Kapczynski for going above and beyond by delivering personal belongings to students whose parents were unable to make it to school to retrieve the items on end-of-year pickup days, from the Richards staff.

• North Carolina Governor Cooper for insisting on scaled-down plans for the Charlotte Republican Convention to protect participants and the public.

• the young cashier in the Lowe’s garden center who respectfully put her face mask on when asked so that I could check out more comfortably.

• Pastor Chad for his message “Sing a New Song,” and Vicar Matt Berry for a wonderful service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

• Angotti’s Restaurant at the Elks lodge, and to server Meg, for a marvelous dining experience, luscious food, exemplary service, and a beautiful venue, even the background music was super.
