INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) said 389 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and private laboratories. That brings to 41,746 the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s total.
Bartholomew County is reporting 566 positive cases and 43 deaths.
The Bartholomew County Health Department is reporting 6,933 total tests performed with the 566 positive and 5,459 negative. There are 1,105 tests pending. The health department will be providing the county-specific numbers on total tests performed and results on a weekly basis on Fridays.
The number of positives of Bartholomew County residents may include testing that was conducted out of county. Conversely, the number of total tests may also include submissions for non-Bartholomew County residents. The counts listed for positives and deaths is only for Bartholomew County residents.
Surrounding counties are reporting:
- Jackson County: 427 positive cases, three deaths.
- Brown County: 37 positive cases, one death.
- Jennings County: 158 positive cases, four deaths.
- Decatur County: 238 positive cases, 32 deaths.
- Shelby County: 408 positive cases, 24 deaths.
- Johnson County: 1,185 positive cases, 116 deaths.
A total of 2,327 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 23 over the previous day. Another 189 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.
To date, 392,887 tests have been reported to ISDH, up from 384,722 on Thursday.
Intensive care unit and ventilator capacity remains steady. As of today, nearly 37 percent of ICU beds and more than 81 percent of ventilators are available.
Any Hoosier seeking COVID-testing can obtain it through one of the state-sponsored OptumServe sites, including one in Columbus, regardless of whether they are at high risk or have symptoms. Anyone with concerns about COVID-19 is urged to call the health system’s Triage Resource Call Center, a phone resource line launched by CRH to handle calls from residents with questions and concerns about exposure or symptoms associated with COVID-19. The phone line is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is staffed by registered nurses who will offer screening questions and potentially recommend a course of action for patients.
