Columbus police officers arrested a local man Monday morning after he was accused of crashing into a mailbox and fleeing the scene.
Shortly after midnight on Monday, Columbus police officers responded to the 2400 block of West Jonathan Moore Pike about an accident, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The officers located the vehicle involved in the crash at a nearby business and identified
the driver as Michael O. Kent, 31, of 239 Lafayette Ave., Columbus. After speaking with Kent and reviewing security camera footage, Kent was taken into custody, Harris said.
Kent was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail and was later
formally charged with leaving the scene of a property damage crash, a Class B misdemeanor. He is currently being held without bond after his bond was revoked by the courts in regards to an incident in May where he was arrested for trespassing at a downtown Columbus business, Harris said.
