Around Town – June 24

Orchids to …

• the police officers who helped on Rockyford Road bridge to find the 12-year-old boys on Friday, from thankful parents.

• Jerry Cope, for helping me change a flat tire on Monday.

• Spencer and Kristine Gross and the entire Gross family at Majors True Value Hardware for the blessing they have been to my 41-year career and all the friends I have made with co-workers and customers and the blessing they have been as well, from Brenda Weddle.

• the Lincoln Square Restaurant for the amazing carryout that we ordered.

• the person who found my cell phone at Kroger’s on Saturday.

• Bob Poynter for the wonderful service and friendly smile on Monday when doing my car.

• the state for putting the brakes on the riverfront project.

• Shannon at the Senior Center having patience and kindness towards Joyce and Meals on Wheels.

• Sherry Grimes for her letter to the editor.

• all Bartholomew County Republicans.

• the incredible federal elected official who delivered an entertaining and powerful rally speech.

• Sherry Grimes for being a voice of reason.

Onions to …

• the neighbor who hasn’t mowed their yard in more than two years.

• the book fan, for bragging about it.

• our so-called leader who still hasn’t developed a coherent national response to the virus with an impending second round coming as if the first round didn’t do enough damage.

• the divider in chief, the only thing he’s good at.

• the federal elected official and his Tulsa rally where he now says he was joking about slowing down COVID-19 testing, which is disgusting because any joke about the virus is not funny.

• the federal elected official and the book author because neither is a patriot and both are a national disgrace.

• whoever decided to put the masks on the statues of the kids holding hands playing as you come across the bridge heading into downtown Columbus.

• the federal elected official expressing more concern with COVID-19 testing numbers than he does for Americans dying from it.

• those who do not realize that it may be time that protestors be armed as police and the military are.

• those with no concept of freedom of choice, if you want to go to a rally, go, if you don’t care for it, change the channel, if you don’t like the federal elected official, vote for someone else.

• the political party trying to take health care from millions of Americans during a pandemic by eliminating the Affordable Care Act.

• the federal leader who, like “Typhoid Mary,” spreads disease wherever he goes, but unlike him, she was unaware of her impact on others.

• the federal elected official for his ridiculous suggestion that we stop testing for a disease that is ravaging our nation.

• the people who are trying to change our country and its history.

• the employees who were very rude to me when I came in the wrong door that I had been directed to use.

• the federal elected official for saying we should slow down testing because we will only find more cases.

• the federal elected officials quietly replacing U.S. attorneys in the District of Columbia so that one cannot be indicted after leaving office.

• the letter writer who’s hateful rhetoric, lies, half-truths, and finger pointing contributes nothing in these challenging times.

• anyone who thinks the liberals think all cops are bad.

• the federal elected official who refused to put sanctions on China for building concentration camps to hold Muslims so he could get China to buy U.S. farm products

• those not paying attention and learning that wearing any type of mask prevents those particles from being transmitted from breathing.

• those who have not figured out that the letter writer is a right-wing person using right-wing talking points.

• wasting $8.6 million tax dollars on a dangerous and filthy river.

• the nosy people that sit around and watch people instead of getting a job.

• the letter writer on Saturday with the extreme one-sided view who needs to watch something besides Fox.
