A Hope man was arrested on several charges after he reportedly crashed into a tree Monday in Columbus.
Columbus police were sent to 15th and Washington streets shortly after 8 a.m. about an unconscious driver in the middle of the street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
As officers approached the area, they observed the driver of the vehicle, who was later identified as Chanceton M. Daniels, 27, strike a tree in the 300 block of 15th Street, Harris said.
After the crash, the officers observed Daniels, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, move over to the passenger seat of the vehicle. Daniels was taken into custody a short time later.
Officers recovered two glass pipes and green leafy substance that resembled marijuana inside the vehicle, Harris said.
Daniels was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges: Driving while suspended with prior conviction, possession of a lookalike substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a Bartholomew County warrant.
