NORTH VERNON — Jennings County School Corp. has pushed back the start date of the 2020-21 school year to give teachers more time to prepare for classes.
In a unanimous decision during a special meeting on July 23, all seven of JCSC’s school board members agreed to move the first day of school from Aug. 6 to Aug. 13.
“The biggest reason for the delay is that our teachers have requested more time for training,” Jennings County School Board President Pat Sullivan said. “There are a whole lot of rumors — and a whole bunch of malarkey — floating around out there, but the delay is not because COVID-19 is out of control here. In fact, right now, the COVID count is pretty stable here in Jennings County.”
