Kaye Ellen “KE” Connor

COLUMBUS, INDIANA

After a 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s, Kaye Ellen “KE” Connor was welcomed home by our Lord on Sunday, August 9, 2020.

KE was born to Bernice (Butler) and I.J. Irvin Jr. in 1947 in the Panama Canal Zone. She was one of three daughters raised as an “Army Brat.” KE met the love of her life, John E. Connor III (also raised in a military family), while preparing for a hurricane at Homestead Air Force Base, Florida.

KE and John married in 1968 and raised their daughters, Lauren and Christine, as they traveled the world with the United States Army. She and John spent the last thirty years together calling Columbus, Indiana their home, while enjoying traveling, music and serving their community.

KE had a passion for her family, community, music and the arts while being a person of deep religious faith. She was a volunteer in the global community and had a heart for making our world better. With her sister, Candy, together they served on many Mission trips throughout the world. KE devoted many hours to organizations such as The American Red Cross, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, Foundation for Youth, Leadership Bartholomew County, her grandchildren’s schools and her beloved First Presbyterian Church.

KE is survived by John; daughters, Lauren and Christine; sons-in-law, Tim Millwood and Mike Elwood; and six grandchildren, Connor Millwood, Chase Millwood, Cathrine Millwood, Jack Campbell, Ella Campbell and Taylor Elwood, all of Columbus.

A private inurnment was held at First Presbyterian Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, KE asked that memorial contributions be made to either the Music & Memory program at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 East 17th Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201, or Foundation for Youth, 405 Hope Avenue, Columbus, Indiana 47201.

Online condolences and special memories may be shared with the family and a video tribute may be viewed at barkesweaverglick.com.
