COLUMBUS
William “Bill” F. Schroeder, 78, of Columbus, passed from this life at 3:32 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at his home.
Mr. Schroeder was born May 1, 1942, in Shelby County, Indiana, the son of Glenn F. and Georgia O. Alexander Schroeder.
He married Connie Kay Gordon November 10, 1963.
Bill retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1999 after 37 years of service.
He was a member of New Hope Christian Church, Masonic Lodge Phoenix #62 in Rushville and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and being on his tractor.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 57 years; son, Douglas F. Schroeder of Westport; daughter, Tammy Kay Schroeder of Greenwood; grandchildren, Kyle (Amanda) Schroeder, Braydon (Jaimie) Schroeder and Aubree (Tyler) Smith; great-grandchildren, Ayden, Garrisyn, Jake and Emma; 2 nieces; 1 nephew and 1 great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with John Sichting officiating.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 a.m. to time of service Saturday.
We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and mask are required.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
