Bull Dogs cruise

Gwen Anderson fired a 1-over-par 37 Thursday to lead No. 8 Columbus Noth to a 157-226 win against Roncalli at Harrison Lake Country Club.

Nathaly Munnicha, Yestika Nischol and Macy Euler all shot 40 for the Bull Dogs. Ella Wilks added a 44, and Ratisha Rashmil had a 47.

Lancers post victory

BATESVILLE — Edinburgh won with a 225 against Oldenburg Academy, which had only two golfers.

Morgan Calhoun won medalist honors with a 48 at Hillcrest. Annelise Lollar carded a 53, Jillian Turner added a 58 and Serenity Smith had a 66.

Eagles fall to Braves

NASHVILLE — Brown County played for the second consecutive match without top golfer Ainslie Winton and fell to Indian Creek 230-245 at Salt Creek.

Annika Evenson led the Eagles with a 54. Abby Padgett carded a 61, Avery Patterson added a 64, Christy Sebastian shot 66, Ava Padgett had a 70 and Mattie Satter finished with a 71.

Bull Dogs tie Cougars

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus North rallied from a 2-0 deficit to forge a 3-3 Conference Indiana tie at Bloomington North.

Jesse Williams, Nathan White and Nathan Imlay scored goals to give the Bull Dogs (1-0-1, 1-0-1) a 3-2 lead with about three minutes remaining. But the Cougars converted a penalty kick a minute later to tie it.

Aidan Whitley, Williams and Jacob Gilliam had assists for the Bull Dogs.

Bloomington North outshot Columbus North 17-16, putting 10 shots on goal to six for the Bull Dogs. Colvin Iorio recorded seven saves.

Jets sweep Eagles

HOPE — Hauser had little trouble in rolling to a 25-13, 25-10, 25-12 win against Jac-Cen-Del.

Hannah Johnson pounded 12 kills and one block, and Aunaka Wasil recorded 30 assists and one block to lead the Jets (2-0). Andie Clark 16 digs, and Marnie Schwartzkopf served three aces.

Also for Hauser, Charlie Clark tallied seven kills and two aces; Schwartzkopf had seven kills and four digs and Adriana Musillami added three assists, five digs and two aces. Kenzie Bostic pounded five kills, and Andie Clark two contributed two assists

Cougars topple Lancers

GREENSBURG — South Decatur posted its first win of the season, a 25-14, 25-20, 25-21 Mid-Hoosier Conference triumph against Edinburgh.

The Cougars improved to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in the MHC. The Lancers fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Stars rally past Eagles

NASHVILLE — Brown County won the first two sets in its season opener, but Bedford North Lawrence rallied for a 20-25, 9-25, 25-12, 25-19, 15-6 victory.

Lauren Akles pounded 10 kills, Abigail Bowman recorded 10 assists and Mary Rygiel served three aces to lead the Eagles. Milly Patrick added five kills, and Natalie Suding had five assists.

Eagles top Jets

NASHVILLE — Hauser won a third-set supertiebreaker at No. 3 singles, but Brown County claimed the other matches to post a 4-1 victory.

Josh Miller beat Eli Miller 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Aiden Burch topped Caleb Wallace 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles for the Eagles (1-1). Brown County’s Noah Cochran and Spencer Blee outlasted Caleb Hoover and Levi Gollmer 4-6, 6-4, (10-8) at No. 1 doubles, and Nolan Patterson and Reid Davis defeated Dawson Paul and Hagan Wiedersatz 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

The win for the Jets (0-2) came when Carson Rose beat Austen Deckard 6-0, 4-6, (12-10) at No. 3 singles.

Bulldogs stop Panthers

NORTH VERNON — New Albany won four matches in straight sets en route to a 4-1 win at Jennings County.

Jacob Vogel and Justin Ramey beat Lukas Knoy and Isaac Minton 7-6 (4), 6-1 for the Panthers (1-2).

Jennings’ Connor Euler fell to Mitchel Meyer 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Ryan Schuck lost to John Fulmer 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Jansen McDonald fell to Noah Johnson  6-0, 6-0at No. 3 singles. Alex Leach and Greyson Jackson lost to Isaac Saegesser and JT Zimmer 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Panthers down Pirates

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County picked up its first win of the season, a 5-1 victory against Charlestown.

Morgan Lane scored two goals, and Kenna Maschino added a goal and an assist for the Panthers (1-1). Cassidy Mull and Tori Lee each scored a goal, and Bree Galyan had an assist.

Lee played the first 55 minutes in goal and recorded four saves. Grace Ramey played the final 25 minutes and posted two saves.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Panther boys win invite

SEYMOUR — The Jennings County boys opened their season with a victory in the Seymour Invitational.

The Panthers edged Cathedral 41-43 for the title. Seymour finished third with 45 points.

Jennings’ Lane Elsner finished second in 17 minutes, 19.75 seconds. Brenden Baker took sixth in 17:57.99, while Logan McIntosh was 10th (18:12.68), Gavin Hendrix 11th (18:27.12) and Eli Wahlman 12th (18:34.66).

The Panther girls finished fourth with 91 points. Cathedral won with 16, followed by Seymour with 64 and Charlestown with 78.

Elizabeth Evans led Jennings with a 10th-place finish in 22:34.76. Halle Franks took 13th in 23:14.93, while Elizabeth Wahlman was 16th (23:40.35), Rilee Hicks 29th (25:39.04) and Grace Gambrel 42nd (27:28.07).
