Bull Dogs win big

Nathaly Munnicha fired a 3-under-par 33 Thursday to lead co-No. 6 Columbus North to a 151-236 win against Shelbyville at Harrison Lake Country Club.

Yestika Nischol carded a 38 for the Bull Dogs. Gwen Anderson added a 29, Macy Euler shot 41, Ella Wilks had a 42 and Ritisha Rashmil finished with a 48.

Olympians down Cubs

Peyton Meier and Carter Gant each shot 44 to lead Columbus East to a 184-195 win against Madison Thursday at Otter Creek.

Harley Gant carded a 45 for the Olympians. Katie Hong added a 51, Cristen Martinez shot 57, Lilly Steinwedel had a 60 and Savannah Wells finished with a 66.

Eagles take third

CLAYTON — Brown County finished third in a tri match Wednesday at Deer Creek. Monrovia won with a 212 to 216 for South Putnam and 222 for Brown County.

Christie Sebastian led Brown County with a 52. Annika Evenson carded a 54, Abby Padgett and Avery Patterson each shot 58, Savannah added a 70 and Ava Padgett had a 71.

North rolls to win

INDIANAPOLIS — No. 12 Columbus North won four matches by shutout Thursday in rolling to a 5-0 Conference Indiana win at Southport.

Nathan Lin beat Micah Fishel at No. 1 singles, and Matthew Liu downed Thang Chin at No. 2 singles, both by 6-0, 6-0 scores for the Bull Dogs (3-0, 1-0). Noah Abfall topped Sam Stone 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

North’s Anvay Atram and Amrit Kar blanked Drew Youmans and Rokim Thang 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, as did Luke Enneking and Eric Stavnheim against Sheldon Fox and Nathan Kendall at No. 2 doubles.

Olympians blank Cubs

MADISON — Columbus East won its first match of the season Thursday, a 5-0 shutout of Madison.

Pranav Kumar beat Bryce Miller 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Olympians (1-3). Matthew Degner downed Matthew Burhkardt at No. 2 singles, and Derek Heideman topped Alex Wang at No. 3 singles, both by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

East’s Jimmy Clark and Davi Carvalho at No. 1 doubles and Zach Kiser and Lincoln West at No. 2 doubles won by forfeit.

Jets fall to Royals

HOPE — Hauser won at No. 1 doubles, but Eastern Hancock took the rest to hand the Jets a 4-1 defeat on Thursday.

Eli Miller and Levi Gollmer beat Bryce Wennen and Nate Cape 6-3, 6-2 at #1 doubles for Hauser (1-3).

NORTH VERNON — Seymour pulled out a pair of three-set wins to notch a 3-2 victory Thursday at Jennings County.

Alex Leach and Greyson Jackson beat Brady Horton and Joe Schmidt 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles for the Panthers. (2-5).

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh won the No. 1 singles match, but Indian Creek took the other four in straight sets to claim a 4-1 victory on Thursday.

Max Blandford beat Jaden Schrogham 6-3, 3-6, (10-8) at No. 1 singles for the Lancers (1-2).

Edinburgh’s Travis Jones fell to Brendan Conner 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and Chase Littlejohn lost to Aiden Pemberton 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Josh Miller beat Ryan Kleman 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Nolan Patterson downed Cameron Gruenwald 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Reid Davis topped Henry Hall 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (2-2).

Brown County’s Noah Cochran and Spencer Blee defeated Soloman Hall and Nathan Voelker 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Aidan Burt and Eli Sichting beat Luke Pollert and James Thomack 6-4, 7-6 (3) at No. 2 doubles.

Rebels sweep North

Columbus North had its hands full with one of the state’s top teams Thursday in a 25-9, 25-16, 25-7 loss to Roncalli.

Madison White led the Bull Dogs (2-4) with two kills and two blocks. Reagan Kane recorded five assists and eight digs, Madi Roop and Sarah Bennett each had two blocks and Grace Chapman notched 10 digs.

Coach nets No. 700

FRANKLIN — Class A No. 2 Trinity Lutheran overcame a first-set setback to post a 25-27 27-25 25-14 25-20 win Thursday at Franklin.

The win gave Cougars coach Faith Wilder-Newland, the former longtime Columbus East coach, her 700th career victory. Trinity now is 2-1.

Panthers edge Jets

KNIGHTSTOWN — Hauser held Knightstown to one goal, but couldn’t find the net in a 1-0 defeat on Thursday.

Carter Scott recorded 14 saves for the Jets (0-2). Defender Ben Essex added one save.

Cubs nip Panthers

MADISON — Jennings County tied the game in the 69th minute, but gave up an own goal a minute later and dropped a 2-1 Hoosier Hills Conference decision to Madison on Thursday.

Ian Sawyer scored on a throw-in from Logan McIntosh in for the Panthers (3-3, 0-1).

Spartans stop Eagles

SHELBYVILLE — Brown County was within 2-1 late in the first half Thursday, but Southwestern (Shelby) pulled away for a 5-1 victory.

Cameron Payne scored an unassisted goal for the Eagles (0-2), who were outshot 13-5. Wyatt Fox posted eight saves.

Panthers fall to Floyd

NORTH VERNON — Floyd Central jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and went on to hand Jennings County an 8-0 HHC loss on Thursday.

Grace Ramey recorded 10 saves in the first 70 minutes in goal for the Panthers (1-4, 0-3). Cheyeneana Leslie posted one save over the final 10 minutes.

Jet wins boys race

GREENSBURG — Ryan Ault won the boys race, and South Decatur finished second as a team in Thursday’s South Decatur Invitational at Southeastern Baptist Youth Camp.

South Ripley won the boys team title with 32 points to 73 for the Cougars, 78 for Southwestern (Shelby), 88 for the Jets and 89 for North Decatur.

Ault ran 18 minutes, 1 second for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Hauser’s Alex Bower finished 14th in 20:40, while Colin Kistler was 15th (20:43), Cameron Toole 36th (23:09) and Austin Cowan 44th (25:28).

South Ripley won the girls meet with 43 points to 56 for Jac-Cen-Del, 61 for South Decatur 68 for North Decatur and 131 for Hauser.

Amanda Steward led the Jets with a 21st-place finish in 27:23. Reiss Kistler took 25th in 27:57, while Addison Jones was 27th (28:22), Kaitlynn Everroad 32nd (29:55), Tammy Essex 33rd (29:58) and Lexi Tallent 39th (33:58).
