COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Bartholomew County Sheriff Department presented a certificate of appreciation to Kenny Glass Inc. and its employees for their help to ensure a 93-year-old woman whose house was damaged by a brick through a window was kept safe.

At 11:13 a.m. Monday, the woman told Deputy Robert Cooper that someone had thrown a block through a window in her home in the Lowell addition, which is just a few blocks from Kenny Glass.

“She didn’t understand why this happened,” Cooper said. “She said she had not experienced any problems recently with anyone.”

Cooper went to Kenny Glass, and approached fabricator Jerry Bragg to ask if he had plastic and nails to cover the window.  He was concerned about protecting the woman from being exposed to the elements, as well as keeping her cats indoors.

After the deputy was provided the plastic and some tape, Bragg asked Cooper if he could come to the house and see the damage himself. Bragg asked for the frame that the glass was sitting in. He left, and came back with a brand new window. A few other employees came to the home as well to ensure the window was properly installed, all of it completed free.
