Sometimes all it takes is just one goal.
That was the case in Thursday night’s non-conference boys soccer matchup between Columbus North and Franklin Central.
In the 47th minute, the Bull Dogs were awarded a corner kick, and the kick went into the cluster of bodies in the middle of the box. After a couple deflections, the ball fell right at the feet of Jesus Hernandez, and the kick deflected off a Flasher defender and went inside the near post.
Despite a few opportunities by the Flashes, North hung on for a 1-0 win.

It was a great night for Bull Dogs goalkeeper Colvin Iorio, who finished with 12 saves and posted his first shutout of the season.
North (2-1-3) will look to carry the momentum over to Saturday when it faces Conference Indiana foe Terre Haute South.
Franklin Central (3-4) had a couple opportunities following the goal to try to equalize the game. The first came in the 54th minute, when a free kick was awarded to the Flashes just outside of the goal box. The kick went through the wall, but Iorio was able to make the save from the far post.
The other opportunity came in the 59th minute, when a free kick was awarded from about 30 yards out. The kick went over the heads of many of the players, but Iorio was there to make the grab for the save.
The Bull Dogs took eight shots, with three of them on goal, and the Flashes took 23 shots with 12 on goal.
In the first half, Franklin Central had some opportunities to get on the scoreboard in the 20th, 23rd minutes, but the kicks were straight at the hands of Iorio.
Another opportunity came for the Flashes in the 25th minute, when the North defense possessed the ball, but the ball was then stolen by Franklin Central. But the shot attempt was wide of the near post.
The best chance for North to break the scoreless draw was in the 31st minute, when the ball was played forward on the right side of the box, but the cross pass couldn’t connect to a Bull Dog for the finish.
