HOPE, Ind. — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at about 5 p.m. near Hope.
Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies were sent to State Road 9 and East County Road 450N at 5:05 p.m. Monday. A 2005 Chevrolet Astro and a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado were heavily damaged in the collision.
The driver of the Astro, William Jett, 69, Seymour, had been ejected from his vehicle, deputies said. He was flown by Lifeline helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital, where his condition is unknown at this time.
The driver of the Silverado, David Nickerson, 45, Columbus, was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment, deputies said.
According to witnesses, Jett’s vehicle was traveling south on State Road 9 approaching County Road 450N when he braked heavily for another vehicle turning west on to 450N from State Road 9. Jett lost control of his vehicle, causing it to spin into the northbound lane where it collided with Nickerson’s vehicle, deputies said.
