Greenbelt decision coming next month

The city may decide to keep Greenbelt Golf Course open for another year, but the final decision will not come until October.

At Tuesday’s Columbus City Council meeting, Mayor Jim Lienhoop said that when the parks general fund budget is presented before city council on Oct. 6 for its first reading, it will include funding for both Greenbelt and Par 3.

However, Lienhoop added that the funding could still be voted down.

Last week, the Columbus Parks Board approved its 2021 general fund budget without allocating funds for golf. However, in that meeting, they voted to include an addendum that they would be willing to keep Greenbelt open if the city council approved an additional $176,000 for the parks general fund budget.
