MALE

Ryan Ault // Hauser senior cross-country runner

A week after winning the Mid-Hoosier Conference race, Ault won the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) race in 17 minutes, 52 seconds to lead the Jets to a third-place team finish in Saturday’s Hauser Heritage Days Classic.

His performance last week: “It could have been a faster time, but it was colder weather, so I felt like it was a pretty decent race.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “The night before, I eat pasta or lasagna, and the day of, I eat a banana for breakfast.”

Favorite drink: “Chocolate milk”

Favorite food: “Spaghetti”

Favorite class: “Physical education”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University.”

Favorite athlete: “Usain Bolt”

Role model: “My friend Jacob James from Waldron (a standout runner who died in a car accident the week of last year’s semistate).”

Best advice: “Work at what you believe in, and you can achieve it.”

Athletics goal: “Make it to semistate again.”

If you could travel anywhere: “California because there’s a lot of celebrities down there, and there’s a really good highway that you can drive on that’s just beautiful all the time.”

FEMALE

Nathaly Munnicha // Columbus North senior golfer

Munnicha won medalist honors with a 70 in the Bloomington North Sectional to lead the Bull Dogs to the team title and shot 78 Saturday to help them to a second-place finish in the Washington Regional.

Her performance last week: “Sectional, I was striking the ball well. It felt good. But regional, I had just one really bad hole. But I’m just going to learn from it and hopefully play well this week (at state).”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I practice on what I really need for that tournament. This week, I’ll practice more on my bunker shots and short game. It just depends on how my game is.”

Favorite drink: “Milk”

Favorite food: “Ice cream”

Favorite class: “Sports and Entertainment Marketing”

Favorite sports team: “Xavier”

Favorite athlete: “Lexi Thompson”

Role model: “My parents (Khamphet and Joanne Munnicha).”

Best advice: “One shot at a time. Just have fun and try your best.”

Athletics goal: “I’m just going to try the best that I can and have a positive mentality going into state.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Greece, because of the culture and the beaches. It just seems like a fun place to be.”
