COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Rebecca “Becky” Ann Lucas, 62, of Columbus, passed Thursday, October 1, 2020, surrounded by loved ones.
Becky is survived by her husband of 40 years, William “Dale” Lucas and two sons, Andrew and Mark (Chelsea) Lucas, all of Columbus. She also leaves behind several grandchildren in which she loved dearly, Haley, Rylan, Delani, Laila, Adalyn, Wyatt and Jameson Lucas, Ava Dudding, Mark, Laquita and Bobby Jr Truitt. Lastly, she leaves behind two friends who were more like sisters, Betty Lucas and Linda Mitchell; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, “Chewy”.
Becky is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bobby, Gary and Ricky Lucas.
Becky was born on February 19, 1958, in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, to parents Edna and Howard Lucas, Jr. Becky graduated Columbus East High School and went on to college. She worked for Cosco Inc. for many many years, Handy Foods and the Bartholomew County Humane Society. She was very passionate about her family and animals. She loved to be outside, go on walks and explore with her grandkids. She was always looking for a sick or injured animal to nurse back to health.
Becky was truly a remarkable woman who was well liked and loved by many. She will be missed.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Vincent Stallsworth officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required.
Mrs. Lucas will be laid to rest at the Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society or Riley Hospital for Children.
