East sweeps Roncalli
INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus East overcame a perennial power Roncalli team Thursday night in a 25-19, 27-25, 25-23 victory.
Gabby Dean led the Olympians (14-4) with 12 kills and three aces. Katy Jordan recorded 25 assists, Libby Dippold had six assist blocks and Saige Stahl notched 14 digs.
Also for East, Reece Whitehead pounded 10 kills, and Stahl added eight kills and two assist blocks. Dean had one solo block, Reece Whitehead and Cadence Gilley each tallied 11 digs and Kenzie Foster served two aces.
Jets fall to Bears
SHELBYVILLE — Hauser closed the regular season with a 25-23, 25-13, 25-21 loss at Shelbyville.
Hannah Johnson pounded 10 kills, Aunaka Wasil recorded 24 assists, Kenze Bostic and Stephanie Meek each had two blocks, Andie Clark notched 17 digs and Adriana Musillami served three aces to lead the Jets (18-11).
Also for the Jets, Charlie Clark tallied six kills, one block, nine digs and two aces. Marnie Schwartzkopf posted six kills, Kyra Meister had eight digs and Wasil served one ace.
Franklin tops North
FRANKLIN — Columbus North won the first set, but Franklin rallied for a 12-25, 25-10, 25-17, 25-22 victory.
Reagan Kane led the Bull Dogs (7-20) with 26 assists, 17 digs and six aces. Sarah Bennett pounded 15 kills, Madison White had three blocks, and Ava McKinney notched 17 digs.
Also for North, Madi Roop recorded seven kills and seven digs. White also added seven kills.
Brown County falls
NASHVILLE — Brown County came close in the first set, but South Putnam came away with a 25-23, 25-18, 25-20 Western Indiana Conference win.
Lauren Akles pounded eight kills, Abigail Watson had three blocks, Mary Rygiel notched 10 digs and Milly Patrick served three aces to lead the Eagles (10-11, 4-5).
Also for Brown County, Rygiel recorded six kills and two aces, and Patrick had three kills and nine digs. Watson added six kills.
Panthers pick up win
NORTH VERNON — Jennings County closed the regular season with a 25-16, 25-23, 25-17 win against Whiteland.
Kylie Truesdell pounded seven kills, Liz Ertel had six blocks, Taylor Mowery notched 19 digs and Megan Vogel served nine aces to lead the Panthers (4-11).
Also for Jennings, Charlee Barlow and Alivia Elmore each recorded five kills. Lily Ernstes tallied five blocks and Shelby Wilson added six aces.
Trinity nips New Albany
NEW ALBANY — Class A No. 1 Trinity Lutheran pulled out a 25-22, 23-25, 25-8, 19-25, 16-14 win at 4A New Albany.
Bailey Reynolds led the Cougars (25-5) with 46 assists and three blocks. Sydney Jaynes pounded 21 kills, Kamzi Gross notched 27 digs and Ruthie Bingham served three aces.
Also for Trinity, Kennedy Hoffman recorded 12 kills, Bailey Tabeling had 10 kills and two blocks, and Stella Kleffman added kills and 17 digs. Elly Carter tallied 11 digs and two aces, Bingham posted 11 digs and Hoffman served two aces.
GIRLS SOCCER
Bulldogs edge Panthers
FLOYDS KNOBS — Jennings County was tied with New Albany 1-1 at halftime, but the Bulldogs came away with a 3-2 victory in the semifinals of the Floyd Central Sectional.
Makenna Maschino scored both goals for the Panthers (7-9). Morgan Lane had an assist.
New Albany outshot Jennings 18-7. Tori Lee recorded 15 saves.
Trinity moves to final
CLARKSVILLE — Trinity Lutheran advanced to the Providence Sectional final with a 6-0 semifinal win against Austin.
Kailene Cockerham netted three goals, and Emma Myers had two goals and two assists for the Cougars (6-7). Flossie Cooper scored the other goal, and Sarah Lemming added an assist.
Trinity outshot the Eagles 14-4. Genesis Munoz posted four saves.
The Cougars will play Providence in the final at 2 p.m. Saturday.
