Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers is quarantining and awaiting COVID-19 test results after feeling under the weather for several days.
The sheriff’s department said he had mild symptoms, although Myers said he wasn’t feeling well at all on Thursday.
BCSO Chief Deputy Maj. Chris Lane is monitoring the overall operations of the department, supervising staff and to reporting daily to Myers.
“Under Major Lane’s leadership, he is directing, planning, organizing, and commanding the operations of the Sheriff’s Office while performing his related work as required while I am out,” the sheriff said “Major Lane has been in contact with the Bartholomew County commissioners and he is monitoring the governor’s directive regarding the updated Indiana “Back on Track” plan due to surging coronavirus numbers.
Currently, the sheriff’s department Road Patrol Division is at full capacity. Two Correction Officers are in quarantine but no other staff members or inmates are showing any signs of symptoms.
