HOPE — When it comes to exterior holiday lighting decorating, there’s a family in Hope’s Liberty Place subdivision that’s hard to beat.

For the second year in a row, the Kylie and Jon Griffin family, 1607 Manor Drive, Hope, won the annual “Deck The Town” competition sponsored by Main Street of Hope, Inc.

Between Wednesday and Sunday night, all Facebook subscribers were invited to place a “Like” next to their favorite outdoor decorations. Although there were 50 locations photographed with the Hope town limits, only 18 finalists were chosen to have their pictures posted on Main Street of Hope’s Facebook page.

Throughout the five days of voting, the most popular homes changed little. The Griffin family earned a total of 133 votes. Those who rounded out the top five were:

109 votes — 219 Walnut St.

59 votes — 2007 Neal Drive

42 votes — 171 S. Midway Court

36 votes — 344 Vine St and 434 Main St.(tie)

Once again, the Griffin family will received temporary custody of a traveling “Leg Lamp” in fishnet stockings, like the one feature in the 1983 film “A Christmas Story.” But the family will have their name permanently placed on a commemorative plaque.

Organizers say they are hopeful the competition was entice south central Indiana residents to travel to Hope to see all the private lighting displays, as well as those in the town square, organizers said.
