ADVENTURES IN HISTORY VIRTUAL FAN CLUB, GRADES 1-6, Dec. 1 to 31. Do you love to think about what life was like in the past? If you love to read books like the “Magic Tree House,” the “I Survived” series, Nathan Hale’s “Hazardous Tales,” or the “American Girl” series then December’s virtual fan club is for you! BUILDER’S GUILD-VIRTUAL PROGRAM, Dec. 4 to 31. Join the Bartholomew County Public Library’s Builder’s Guild and participate in building challenges, exchange ideas, and share your creations in our virtual headquarters. LEGOs, K’Nex, Minecraft, and all building materials and formats welcome. This is an ongoing program — participate whenever you like. This month’s challenge is to build a spaceship. PARENTS NIGHT OUT, 6 to 9 p.m., Jan. 8, Columbus Gymnastics Center, 405 Hope Ave., Columbus. The event is for ages 5 and older with a cost of $25. Children can spend the evening at the Columbus Gymnastics Center playing games, making crafts and enjoying open gym time while parents go out and enjoy the evening off. FAMILY STEAM: INDOOR SNOWBALL LAUNCHERS TAKE & MAKE, all day. Your family will learn about physics and the laws of motion by assembling your own indoor snowball launchers. Kit includes supplies to make two launchers, two “indoor snowballs,” and a packet of instructions and scientific method steps. One kit per household. Talks, lectures, classes
WHERE DOES YOUR MONEY GO? A free online program through Dec. 31 will guide participants through the creation of their spending and savings plan and provide practical resources for them to use in their own lives. The six-module course includes videos, interactive activities, self-assessments and downloadable spending tracking forms. The program is self-paced and can be completed at the viewer’s convenience. Participants should allow approximately four to six weeks to complete the modules and associated activities. After completion of the course, participants will understand how current money management practices affect financial security, how to establish good financial management practices and new habits that create personal financial security. Best practices that will be explored and discussed include identifying spending leaks, categorizing needs vs. wants, tracking expenses and establishing written financial goals. YELLOW TRAIL MUSEUM/VISITOR CENTER, west side of Hope Town Square at 644 Main St., Hope. The board recently announced the museum would be closed for the season until the first full week of April 2021. This also includes the “Sunday Socials,” which typically meet the first Sunday of each month. ATTERBURY-BAKALAR AIR MUSEUM, located at Columbus Municipal Airport, 4742 Ray Boll Blvd., Columbus is currently closed for winter upgrades. The museum will reopen in March of 2021.
