Bears claw Bull Dogs

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North trailed 18-14 after the first quarter and eventually fell to Lawrence Central 72-63.

Blake Barker finished with 24 points and Reese Harmon added 17 for the Bull Dogs (4-2).

Jets take eighth

EDINBURGH — Hauser claimed a 7-6 lead after the first quarter, but were outscored by South Putnam 16-7 in the second quarter. The Jets couldn’t recover in the second half for a 54-46 loss.

Bryce Bates finished with 15 points and Eli Miller added 12 for the Jets (4-6).

Lancers place third

EDINBURGH — Caleb Dewey scored a career-high 33 points to lead the charge and help Edinburgh to a 75-69 win over Hagerstown in the third place game of the Edinburgh Invitational.

Isaac Roberts added 15 points for the Lancers (8-2).

Cougars runner-up

EDINBURGH — South Decatur led 41-40 heading into the fourth quarter, but Indianapolis Lutheran prevailed 55-53 in the championship game of the Edinburgh Invitational.

Hunter Johnson finished with 24 points and Lane Lauderbaugh added 21 for the Cougars.

Crusaders in quarantine

Columbus Christian canceled its two scheduled games Tuesday in the Eagles Classic due to the team coming in contact with someone that tested positive for COVID-19.

Columbus Christian coach Kay Jones said that the team will be in quarantine until Jan. 7. The Crusaders first game after the quarantine is Jan. 9 against Cannelton.

North places 12th

The Columbus North wrestling team finished in 12th in the Mater Dei Classic.

Jason Shuey finished the day 3-1 at 120 pounds with his loss coming to fifth-ranked Cole Ross of Mater Dei in the first round. Brysen Hutt finished the day 2-1 at 113.
