East sweeps trio of opponents
After being favored to win the IHSWCA Class 3A state duals title, only to have to withdraw because host Franklin is in a Red county on the state’s COVID-19 dashboard, Columbus East put together its own four-team round-robin on Saturday.
The Olympians took out their frustrations with three resounding victories. They beat New Palestine 60-11, Decatur Central 69-6 and Hamilton Southeastern 55-9.
Liam Krueger (106 pounds), Noah Lykins (113), Tyler Williams (152), Kade Law (160), Sam Morrill (170), Jaden Durnil (182) and Tommy Morrill (220) all went 3-0 for East. Nate Anderson (120), Bo Wagner (126), Reece Fisher (132), Tony Tapia (138) and Eli Pollitt (145) all went 2-1.

Jets rally past Cougars on late 3-pointer
SEYMOUR — Eli Miller sank a 3-pointer with 6 seconds remaining to lift Hauser to a 46-44 win at Trinity Lutheran.
Bryce Bates scored 20 points to lead the Jets (5-6), who trailed 28-24 after three quarters. Kobe Meahl added seven.
The Cougars fell to 1-7.
Panthers take second in Batesville tourney
BATESVILLE — Jennings County beat Bishop Chatard 60-51 in the semifinals before falling to Whiteland 68-57 in the championship game of the Batesville Tournament.
Darius Thomas led the Panthers (5-3) with 13 points against Batesville. Trey Wilson and Carson McNulty each scored 10 points, and Keegan Manowitz added nine points and seven assists.
Owen Law had 22 points and 11 rebounds against Chatard. Manowitz added 11 points and nine assists and Jacob Vogel grabbed 13 rebounds.

Lollar leads Lancers past South Dearborn
AURORA — Annelise Lollar scored a career-high 34 points to lead Edinburgh to a 63-46 win at South Dearborn.
Lollar had 24 of her points in the first half in helping the Lancers (5-6) to a 41-21 lead at the break. Callie Hancock finished with 11 points, and Gracie Crawhorn added eight.
Trinity Lutheran tops New Washington
NEW WASHINGTON — Class A No. 2 Trinity Lutheran bounced back from a loss to Brownstown in Trinity’s Ben Emkes Holiday Classic with a 58-43 win at New Washington.
The Cougars improved to 13-3.
