Bull Dogs win opener

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North opened its season Wednesday night with a 101.2-97.05 victory at Franklin Central.

Emily Moore won two individual events and the all-around competition to lead the Bull Dogs. She placed first on the bars (9.35) and beam (9.425) and finished second on the vault (9.35) and floor (8.85) to win the all-around with a 36.875.

North’s Madi Edwards finished third on the vault (8.15) and floor (8.225) and fourth on the beam (8.0) on her way to a third-place all-around finish with a 31.575. Lindsey Mullis took third on the bars (8.525) and Abby Jacobi took fourth on the bars (7.375), floor (8.2) and all-around (31.1).

WRESTLING

Irish rally past East

No. 10 Columbus East led No. 4 Cathedral 21-20 with three matches remaining, but the Irish scored a pin at 120 pounds, a decision at 126 and a pin at 132 to claim a 35-21 victory.

Tyler Williams (150) and Sam Morrill (170) won by pin for the Olympians. Jaden Durnil (182), Ashton Hartwell (285) and Noah Lykins (113) won by decision.

SWIMMING

Jennings girls win

NORTH VERNON — The Jennings County girls rallied with wins in the final two events to pull out an 89-85 win against New Albany.

Reagan Brown led the Panthers with wins in the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 26.56 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.87). Braylee Moore took the 50 freestyle (27.69), Tirzah Nogueras captured the 100 butterfly (1:23.41) and Jennings won the 200 medley (2:12.84) and 400 freestyle (4:16.03) relays.

New Albany won all 12 events in taking the boys meet 121-46.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh played Speedway even in the second half, but had fallen behind 48-22 after two quarters.

Annelise Lollar led the Lancers (5-7) with 21 points. Gracie Crawhorn added 16.
