COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Greenwood woman was arrested on a number of drug charges after the vehicle she was traveling in was stopped by Columbus police officers on Thursday evening.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., a CPD officer stopped a vehicle occupied by Amber L. Aguilar, 36, of Greenwood for a minor traffic violation, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The officer noted the strong odor of marijuana inside the vehicle while speaking with Aguilar.
A Bartholomew County K-9 officer was in the area and stopped to assist the CPD officers on scene. The officers also determined that Aguilar had provided officers with a false name and they confirmed a Johnson County warrant for her arrest.
While searching the vehicle, the officers located three bags containing methamphetamine inside Aguilar’s purse. The officers also located a syringe and other drug paraphernalia near where she sitting inside the vehicle, police said.
Aguilar was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where she was remanded on the following preliminary charges: Possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, false informing, Johnson County arrest warrant.
