State: 6,199 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health said 6,199 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 552,594 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

A total of 8,521 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 69 from the previous day. Another 371 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by the state and occurred over multiple days.

To date, 2,724,389 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 2,710,638 on Thursday. A total of 6,005,403 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26.

Bartholomew County reported 5,874 positive tests (up 70) with 89 deaths (corrected total from state) as of Friday.

Jackson County: 3,962 positive cases (up 23) with 45 deaths (no change).

Jennings County: 1,796 positive cases (up 21) with 34 deaths (no change).

Decatur County: 2,278 positive cases (up 21) with 79 deaths (up one).

Shelby County: 3,738 positive cases (up 45) with 75 deaths (no change).

Johnson County: 13,363 positive cases (up 201) with 261 deaths (up six).

Brown County: 805 positive cases (up 11) with 28 deaths (up one).
