Nancy (Mathews) Hughes, 85, of Columbus, IN, passed away at Columbus Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Columbus, IN.
She was born October 04, 1935 to William and Vivian Mathews in Hammond, IN. She married Don D. Hughes on April 9, 1955 in Osgood, IN.
Nancy dedicated almost 30 years of service to Developmental Services Inc. and retired in 2016. She enjoyed going on vacation and cruises with her family and friends. She donated to various charities such as the Bartholomew County Cheer Fund, DSI and various animal shelters. Nancy and Don fostered children for over 20 years and 109 children. She was “Mom” to many and “Grandma” to even more.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, 2 babies, her husband, Don Duane Hughes and children, Michael, Mary Ellen, and Helen Ruth Hughes. She is survived by children, Tim Hughes of Columbus, Jon Hughes of Texas, Georgette Parks of Columbus, Carolyn Sue Melton of Columbus; Grandchildren, Dylan Hughes, Taylor Hughes, Samantha Lykins, Alexandra Bradford, Zack Townsend, Kayla Smith and several great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. The family has requested a private service at 1:00 PM that can be viewed online at jewellrittman.com.
