
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health today announced that 2,942 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 598,313 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.
A total of 9,154 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 62 from the previous day. Another 375 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by the state and occurred over multiple days.
To date, 2,855,991 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 2,847,632 on Tuesday. A total of 6,545,320 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.
Bartholomew County reported 6,340 positive tests (up 30) with 97 deaths (up one) as of Wednesday.
Surrounding counties reported:
- Jackson County: 4,191 positive cases (up 13) with 46 deaths (no change).
- Jennings County: 1,953 positive cases (up 14) with 35 deaths (no change).
- Decatur County: 2,443 positive cases (up 11) with 82 deaths (no change).
- Shelby County: 4,081 positive cases (up 23) with 80 deaths (no change).
- Johnson County: 14,748 positive cases (up 70) with 289 deaths (no change).
- Brown County: 865 positive cases (up three) with 33 deaths (up two).
