Deputies arrest driver after pursuit

COLUMBUS, Ind. –Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested a local man after a pursuit at 10:17 p.m. Thursday in the county.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryland Fluhr observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway in the 6000 block of East County Road 600N and activated his emergency lights, and the vehicle began moving, deputies said.

When Fluhr attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled to the area of East County Road 600N and North Marr Road. The suspect vehicle ran off the roadway multiple times in an attempt to evade deputies. The vehicle eventually stopped on North Marr Road, near the intersection of East County Road 450N.

The driver, identified as Brian Bay, 50, Columbus, was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement. He has since been released from jail.
