State: 2,565 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health today announced that 2,565 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 611,039 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

A total of 9,340 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 23 from the previous day. Another 376 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by the state and occurred over multiple days.

To date, 2,900,051 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 2,890,956 on Saturday. A total of 6,738,341 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.

Bartholomew County reported 6,523 positive tests (up 39) with 100 deaths (no change) as of Sunday.

Surrounding counties reported:

  • Jackson County: 4,267 positive cases (up 17) with 47 deaths (no change).
  • Jennings County: 1,993 positive cases (up four) with 36 deaths (no change).
  • Decatur County: 2,489 positive cases (up 13) with 83 deaths (no change).
  • Shelby County: 4,195 positive cases (up 21) with 81 deaths (no change).
  • Johnson County: 15,140 positive cases (up 73) with 295 deaths (no change).
  • Brown County: 882 positive cases (up two) with 35 deaths (no change).

As of today, 434,287 Hoosiers have received a first dose of vaccine, and 98,517 are fully vaccinated.

Additional locations and appointments are being added as more vaccine becomes available.
