COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Bartholomew County Jail is now on lockdown after nearly half the inmates and four employees tested positive for COVID-19 since Saturday.

There are a total of 211 inmates with 91 inmates testing positive (since Saturday) along with four jail employees.

An Indiana State Health Department Strike team traveled to the jail over the weekend to conduct the testing for inmates and employees.

Four inmates refused to be tested, jail officials said. Those inmates were placed in quarantine.

A lockdown of the facility will continue until at least the end of February, jail officials said.
