East sweeps Greensburg
GREENSBURG — Columbus East swept Greensburg Tuesday night, winning the boys meet 130-44 and the girls meet 102-73.
Brady Beyer won the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 52.16 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:01.23), and Mason Curry took the 200 individual medley (2:11.21) and 100 butterfly (55.77) to lead the Olympian boys. Other winners were Elias VanCuren in the 50 freestyle (25.86), Mark Mathis in the diving competition (156.95), Chad Kelly in the 100 freestyle (52.19), Dathan Wolf in the 100 backstroke (1:01.51) and the 200 medley (1:55.02), 200 freestyle (1:47.78) and 400 freestyle (3:33.11) relays.
Ellie Proffitt won the 200 IM (2:19.44) and 100 butterfly (1:03.97), and Marin Wieneke took the 50 freestyle (26.38) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.01) to lead the East girls. Other winners were Gabbie Meier in diving (204.60), Halle Herbert in the 100 freestyle (1:05.16), Kerigan Greathouse in the 500 freestyle (6:03.05) and the 200 freestyle relay team (1:50.41).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Jets down Chargers
HOPE — Hauser trailed 40-36 after three quarters before rallying for a 53-49 Mid-Hoosier Conference win against North Decatur.
Kyliegh Parrott led the Jets (8-13, 2-4) with 10 points. Hannah Taylor scored 10, and Hannah Johnson added nine.
Panthers rout Floyd
NORTH VERNON — Jennings County shut out Floyd Central in the first quarter and went on to roll to a 55-25 Hoosier Hills Conference win.
Juliann Woodard led the Panthers (14-6, 5-2) with 22 points. Addyson Kent added 12.
Eagles stop Tiger Cubs
NASHVILLE — Brown County and Greencastle were tied at halftime, but the Eagles pulled away in the second half for a 53-42 Western Indiana Conference win.
Abby Fleetwood led the Eagles (7-5, 5-3) with 22 points. Anna Fleetwood scored 11, and Abigail Watson added 10.
Rebels top Cougars
GREENSBURG — Southwestern (Hanover) jumped out to a 24-11 halftime lead and went on to hand South Decatur a 45-28 defeat.
Erynn Dyer led the Cougars (5-14) with 12 points.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Columbus Christian wins
Columbus Christian trailed by nine points entering the fourth quarter before rallying for a 55-49 win against Crosspointe Christian.
Jacob Conrad scored all 14 of his points in second half, and Owen Reed scored all of his career-high 13 in the second half for the Crusaders (12-9). Gabe Ridder also scored 14 points, and Garrett Spurgeon added 11.
Cougar ties record
GREENSBURG — Lane Lauderbaugh tied the South Decatur school record with 41 points in an 81-49 MHC win against North Decatur.
Jacob Scruggs scored 13 points for the Cougars (7-5, 3-0), who led only 32-27 at halftime. Hunter Johnson added 12 points.
