Club Olympia received a special invite to compete last weekend against five of the top swim clubs from Northwest Indiana in the Munster Swim Club 2021 Winter Invitational.

Due to scheduling conflicts, many of Club Olympia’s swimmers opted out of the competition. However, a group of 13 swimmers made the trip and had a major impact on the meet.

Those 13 Club Olympia Swimmers achieved 50 personal records (PRs), nine Divisional cuts and five Age Group State cuts. Club Olympia swimmers also won three of the eight High Point Awards and had two swimmers place second in high-point scoring for their age group.

Leading the way was 10-year-old Josh Pendleton, who won the 10U High Point Award with five wins, four PRs and three state cuts in the 11-12-year-old division. Pendleton currently is the top-rated swimmer in the state in 11 events for the 10U age group.

Tony Machavariani was the high point winner for 8U boys with five wins. Lily Pendleton was the high point winner for 8U girls with five PRs and a first, second, two thirds and a fourth in five events.

Misha Machavariani and Hope Westphal were both high point runners up in the 11-and-over open division events, combining for four PRs, three first-place and two third-place finishes.

Connelly Furnish, competing in the 11-and-over open division events, had three PRs and added two more state cuts to her total. Todd Hundley and Braylee Moore each had four PRs and added one divisional cut.

Ethan Hall had five PRs and added four divisional cuts. Hall was the Swimmer of the Meet for Club Olympia.

Brooklyn Pendleton had five PRs and added one divisional cut. Alexa Mollenhoff and Tynlee Mollenhoff combined for six PRs.

Six-year-old Chad Pendleton, in his first meet, won his heat in one of his two events.

This most likely was the last “tuneup” meet for Club Olympia as it prepares for the Indiana Swimming Divisional and State Championship meets. The Club is well positioned with 27 swimmers qualified for individual events at the divisional meet and 12 qualified for individual events at state.
