North wins invitational

CONNERSVILLE — Fifth-ranked Columbus North edged co-No. 15 Richmond 108.525-108.1 Saturday to capture the team title at the 11-team Connersville Invitational.

Emily Moore won the floor (9.75) and finished second in the all-around competition (38.125). She also tied for second on the beam (9.55) and took third on the bars (9.525) and fourth on the vault (9.3).

Lindsey Mullis finished seventh (34.75), Madi Edwards eighth (34.725) and Abby Jacobi ninth (34.275) in the all-around. Mullis placed sixth on the bars (9.175) and 10th on the vault (8.75), Edwards took seventh on the bars (9.1) and eighth on the floor (9.1) and Jacobi tied for sixth on the beam (8.625) and was eighth on the vault (8.825).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Crusaders win twice

Columbus Christian won a pair of games, downing Dugger Union 55-49 and Legacy Christian 73-54.

Jacob Conrad led the Crusaders (16-13) with 17 points in both games. Gabe Ridder added 11 points against Dugger, and Cody Kiefer had nine against Legacy.

Devils top Panthers

JEFFERSONVILLE — Jennings County will have to wait until Tuesday to try again to win at least a share of the Hoosier Hills Conference title.

Jeffersonville handed the Panthers (10-7, 4-2) a 72-43 loss, creating a four-way tie atop the HHC standings at 4-2. A fifth team with two losses, Madison (2-2), hosts Jennings on Tuesday.

Jacob Vogel led the Panthers with 18 points and eight rebounds.

Warriors stop Cougars

INDIANAPOLIS — South Decatur cut a 28-7 deficit after one quarter to 47-44 late in the third period, but Class 2A No. 8 Covenant Christian pulled away for a 78-54 win.

Lane Lauderbaugh led the Cougars (11-7) with 25 points. Jacob Scruggs added 11.

Eagles fall to Arrows

NASHVILLE — Class 3A No. 10 Sullivan ran out to a 25-2 lead after one quarter and went on to hand Brown County a 95-35 Western Indiana Conference defeat.

Travis Ely and Carter Kelly each scored 11 points to lead the Eagles (1-9, 0-7).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Columbus Christian wins

Columbus Christian jumped out to a 21-4 lead after one quarter and went on to close the regular season with a 60-26 win against Legacy Christian.

Kayla Jones recorded 24 points, seven rebounds and three steals for the Crusaders (6-4). Madison Henderson added 13 points and six assists; Sarah Lorimor had nine points, 10 rebounds and three steals and Kinidy Morgan dished out six assists.

Lions oust Cougars

FRENCH LICK — Class A No. 1 Trinity Lutheran saw its season come to an end with a 57-46 loss to No. 4 Loogootee in the semifinals of the Springs Valley Regional.

Sydney Jaynes scored 18 points to lead the Cougars (20-5) and became the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,599.
