COLUMBUS, Ind. — Luann Welmer, currently serving as Columbus’ city clerk-treasurer, has announced she is seeking the Bartholomew County GOP party chair position.
Selection of a new party chair is scheduled for 10 a.m. March 6.
The slate of officers Welmer has assembled to run with her for the party chair position include Josh Burnett as vice chair, Leah Beyer as secretary and Liana Lienhoop as treasurer.
Welmer has served as Bartholomew County Republican Party treasurer for the last eight years. She was elected city clerk-treasurer in 2011 and re-elected in 2015 and 2019.
She graduated from Purdue University and she and her husband David are members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. They have two adult children, Lydia and Elliott.
