COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested a local woman on multiple charges after an accident at 4:24 a.m. Sunday on I-65 near the 78.5 mile marker.
Deputy Dustin Newland found a silver passenger vehicle overturned at the scene and made contact with the occupant, RileyRae Mitchell, 23, of 1100 17th St.-3C, who said she had been trapped in the vehicle, but crawled out a passenger side door.
Newland said he smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage in the vehicle, deputies said.
After Mitchell received medical attention, she provided a breath sample of 0.139 blood alcohol content on a portable breathalyzer, deputies said.
Mitchell was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for further medical attention, where drug paraphernalia was located in her purse, deputies said.
She was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and possession of paraphernalia, deputies said. Her bond at the Bartholomew County Jail was set at $7,500, jail officials said.
